In the winter of 2005, I embarked on a mesmerizing journey to capture the breathtaking transformation of a North Idaho lake as it danced between freeze and thaw. With my camera in hand, I documented the ever-changing landscape, while my microphone captured the haunting symphony of creaks and groans produced by the ice sheets under stress and constant movement. Each sound told a story of resilience and beauty, echoing through the crisp winter air. This experience was a profound reminder of nature's power and grace, as well as its ability to create art in the most unexpected ways.
